Mary, the Mother of God

  

Mary responded "yes" to God's call to be the mother of Jesus, and lived out her "yes" in watching her Son suffer and die. She is a special intercessor for
the dying, and can be entrusted with caring for our babies who have died. We honor her on many feast days (shown with*).

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton

  

1st American born saint.Patron of Catholic schools, widows, in-law problems, & death of children and parents.

St. Agnes

Virgin who refused to marry/follow Roman demands. She was saved from rape as a bright light blinded soldiers and she was miraculously covered in long hair. Martyred at age 12. Patron of childbirth, children, maternal concerns, chastity, virgins, young girls, engaged couples, & rape victims. Often prayed to for fertility.

St. Brigid of Kildare

Strong spirituality, charity, and compassion toward those in distress. Made her final religious vows before St. Patrick & performed many miracles. Patron of babies & midwives.

St. Colette

  Patron Saint of Stillbirth, women seeking to conceive, expectant mothers, stillbirth, and sick children.
March 6

St. Perpetua (celebrated with St. Felicity)

Lived during the early persecution of the Church in Africa. Martyred two days after giving birth in prison. Patron of expectant mothers. Often prayed to by women seeking pregnancy.

St. Joseph

 Foster Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Patron Saint of the unborn, fathers, husbands, the dying.

The Angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would be the mother of Jesus.

 Doctor/mother who suffered two miscarriages, and died for another child to be born. Patron of motherhood.

Our Lady of Fatima

Our Lady appeared to 3 children in Fatima.

May 13 

St. Rita of Cascia

  

Her husband and two sons died. She became a nun, meditating on the sufferings of the crucified Christ. Received stigmata of the crown of thorns on her forehead. Her body is incorruptible. Patron of impossible causes, hopeless circumstances, sterility, abuse victims, loneliness, marriage difficulties, parenthood, widows, the sick, and bodily ills & wounds.
May 22

St. Anthony of Padua

 Friend of St. Francis of Assisi, and was declared a doctor of the Church for his preaching. He died at 35 years old, and his tongue is incorrupt, signifying his perfect teachings. Patron for lost people, lost things, and lost spiritual goods. He is known for helping “sterile” women get pregnant.
June 13

Servant of God Chiara Corbella

 Conceived two babies with birth defects, but refused to abort. Each died within an hour of birth. In her third pregnancy, she denied cancer treatment because of risks to her unborn son. Her son survived, but Chiara died of cancer a year later. Born January 9, 1984 /Died June 13, 2012

June 13, 2017 : Cause for canonization announced

  Patron of pregnant women and childbirth. Often prayed to by couples trying to conceive.

St Philomena

Martyred at age 13, and consecrated virgin. Patron of infants and youth, infertility, expectant mothers, destitute mothers, unhappiness in the home, mental illness &hopeless cases

Monk, theologian, Doctor of the Church, counseled many. He assured a baby’s salvation, who was miscarried without Baptism. Patron of beekeepers &candlemakers.

Born through C-section in medieval times. Patron of expectant mothers, pre-born babies, Christian families, and those falsely accused.

Gerard gave a handkerchief to a woman, which saved her and her baby during a dangerous delivery. Patron Saint of Expectant Mothers, infertility, (unborn) children, good confessions, and religious brothers.

 One of Jesus’ 12 apostles. Patron of hopeless causes.
October 28

Saint Alphonsus Rodriguez

  

His wife and 3 children died.He became a lay brother and doorkeeper, counseling many, including those who miscarried or lost a baby. Patron of Jesuit brothers & Majorca.

October 30

Saint Elizabeth

Mother of St. John the Baptist, and cousin to Mary, Mother of Jesus. She was infertile for many years until an angel came to her and told her that she conceived in her old age. Patron of pregnant women and those trying to conceive.
November 13

St. Felicitas of Rome

Had seven sons, who all became martyrs. Patron of sterility, mothers of sons, and mothers who lost children.
November 23 (Eastern Orthodox Feast is January 25)

St. Andrew

Not known for fertility, but many pray his novena (Starting Nov.30 through Christmas Eve) for help in conceiving.

Patron Saint of children, sailors, infertile men.

Saint Hannah

After years of thinking she was barren and praying for a child, she became the mother to Samuel (and 5 other children) in the Old Testament, and handed Samuel over to God as she promised. Patron of childless wives and infertile women.

Martyred at 12 or 13 years old. Patron of Protection against Miscarriage.
